Does an image have to be hosted by a domain or can I use a physical path?

Hi Matt,

I have one more question for you today and it has to do with images. All of the examples that you provided require a domain name to host an image. In my case I am running wikiplex in an ASP.NET usercontrol. I am hoping to be able and have the src refer to a physical folder contained with in the ASP.NET project using a path of something like "../help/images/image.jpg". Is this possible with wikiplex or do I have to find a place to host these images? Thanks again

The out-of-the-box behavior is that an image does need to be prefixed with http or https. However, looking at the regexes, I believe that this could be achieved by making http or https not present.

Would you want to fork the solution and give this a try?

I don't have a ton of time to do a forked process right now and I am implementing this as a part of a much larger process so I can't copy my code. I did some playing and I created a custom control called "customImage". I took your regex for the image macro and I stripped out http:// and https:// to look something like this.

I also noticed by stripping https out that you can either use an image hosted on a server or in a physical path. It might be worth it to strip that out for a later version since https is very restricting

Hi John,

I'm not entirely sure I want to open that can of worms :) I think the best course of action, is what you're doing since you can control access to images in your codebase. From a component level, I want to keep things as secure as possible, and if thats requiring a certain restriction out-of-the-box I'm OK with that. However, I'm always open for change should a lot of other people need this requirement.

Unless I've overlooked something, currently on codeplex you can't link to an image associated with a project/wiki page.  This is problematic if you want to present users with a thumbnail image for reading purposes on the wiki and then a linked larger version of the image.  Any chance that this could be reconsidered for a future revision to give the ability to upload both a thumbnail image and a full size to the same wiki page and use a format of:

Hi Brian,

We can definately look at this for a CodePlex feature.
